Thursday September 27th at 7pm – 9.30pm at the Japanese Cultural Centre of Montreal.The Ikenobo Ikebana Society will be welcoming Professor Noriyoshi Shimazu from Japan, the Professor will be conducting a Workshop.
This is an opportunity for all schools to enjoy the talents of Professor Shimazu.

Koryu Shotokai School will be holding their Annual Exhibition Saturday 29th September and Sunday 30th from 1pm until 5pm at the Chapelle Historique de Bon Pasteur, 100 Sherbrooke east –Montreal.
Sunday there will be a concert of flute playing with Ms Yuki Isami at 1.30pm.
Come and join members of the Koryu Shotokai School under the guidance of Grand Master Kazuko Tanaka and view their beautiful arrangements in a most tranquil setting.

C'est un JIZAI-KAGI. /This is JIZAI-KAGI.

C'est ancient au Japon, toute les maisons avait le IRORI.
In old days, every Japanese house had IRORI.

Il y avait un trou dans le milieu de la chambre, la dimension d'un
demi-TATAMI,environs 3x3'' ( 90x90cm) remplie de cendre.
Appele ''IRORI'' (un trou dans un photo est 1/8 Tatami pour
le cérémonie de thé)
There was a whole, size of half tatami, 3"x3" (90x90cm) in
the middle of the room, filled with ash. Called IRORI (in the photo,
the size of hole if 1/8 tatami, this is for tea ceremony purpose)

Le JIZAI-KAGI ?tait suspendu au dessus du plancher. (traduction de JIZAI-KAGI est: crochet réglable)
The JIZAI-KAGI was hung from the ceiling (Direct translation of
Jizai-Kagi is "adjustable hook")

Dans l'ancient temp, les Japonais metait la bouilloire en fer sur le JIZAI-KAGI
pour bouillir l'eau et faire le thé.
In old days, Japanese put a iron kettle on hook and boil the water.

Pour le temps de mangé, la cocoteé cuisiné était mis. Les aliments
sont cuit et l'ont s'assoie pour manger autour du foyer.
At the time of meals, iron cooking pot was placed. Food was
cooked. People sat around irori and eat.

Pour l'hiver, L'IRORI etait une source de chaleur.
In winter, Irori provided heat in the house.

Aussi, la fum? vas dans la maison et fume le bois.
C'?tait une protection pour les termites et la moisisure..
Also, the smoke goes around the house and smoke the woods.
It was a protection from the termites and putrefaction from humidty.

C'est une reason pourquoi vous retrouvez le bois des anciennes,
maisons japonaises, noir. Ce n'est pas de la peinture mais de la fumé pour
proteger la maison.
This is the reason why you see the wood of old Japanese houses are in black.
Ithese are not painted but from the smokes to protect the houses.
